Religious
Education
St. Joseph Church offers Religious
Education classes to students who do not attend Catholic grade
schools. As Catholic
parents, you have the responsibility
and privilege of evangelizing your children.
We, your parish, have a special
role in helping you raise your
children as strong, well-formed Catholic young people. We count
on your child’s
faithful attendance every year
from Grades 1 through 8.
Our Religious Education program is
active in the life of our parish and community. R.E.
students coordinate food drives
for the neighborhood food pantry,
collect needed items for local shelters, serve as Altar Servers
for the Parish, participate
in Masses and special liturgical
events.
Before
a student can receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation,
First Holy Communion, or Confirmation, they must be
enrolled in
Religious Education classes for two years prior or have
attended a Catholic school the year before.
RE
Classes for 2012-2013 will again be held on Tuesdays from
5:00-6:30pm, beginning in September 11, 2012
(first
class and required parent/student meeting). Registration Forms are available by
clicking the links below.
If you would like to receive registration information in the mail, please call the rectory at 815-727-9378.

Bible Study—September

Journey of a Lifetime. This
is part of the Word on
Fire program.
All are invited to attend on Wednesdays from
7:00—8:30 p.m. in Ferdinand Hall.
Young Adult Ministry -
begins
September 21st
New to St. Joseph Parish, this Young Adult Ministry will
meet on the third Friday of
each month beginning in September. Adults ages 21
to 40– single or married— are
most welcome! The group will
meet on Fridays in the Legion Room at St. Joseph Park
from 7:00—8:30 p.m. Attendees will
be able to talk with each other about living their
faith in today’s world,
listen to speakers on topics relevant to where they are in
their
lives, and enjoy refreshments and
friendship in the newly renovated Legion Room.
RCIA - begins
October 7th—March 24
All who are interested in becoming Catholic or who
are Catholic and wish to come into
the fullness of their Catholic faith by
receiving Sacraments, join us for RCIA (Rite of Christian
Initiation of Adults) classes.
The purpose of the RCIA is to allow an adult to understand
the
gift of Christ, both within
themselves and through the life of the Church. During a six
month period of study and
reflection, each adult who participates will be
strengthened
spiritually in the teachings of the
Catholic Faith. At
the conclusion of this instruction, the
adult is ready to join the Church
through the reception of the sacraments of Baptism,
Eucharist, and Confirmation.
This takes place at the Easter Vigil service in the
spring. At
St. Joseph Catholic Church there
is no cost for joining the RCIA program. In addition, all
are
welcome to participate, from
those with no experience in the faith to those who have
been catechized.
